Lavertezzo Bridge a spot for deep lovers

Share

There are several places in Switzerland, especially in the canton of Ticino which are known for the lush greenery, natural scenery and serenity. Another addition to that list is the Village of Lavertezzo which has all the qualities to impress the occasional visitor. The quiet, peace and magnificence of the village attract locals, individuals, tourists and families.

Let us talk a little about the geography of the place. The area is roughly sixty square miles and the majority, about forty percent, is unproductive land and another two percent is covered by the water bodies. The uneven terrain and wild vegetation are one of the reasons for such a huge amount of unproductive land. About nearly half of the area is covered by forests which blend in with the rest of the natural landscape to make Lavertezzo what it is.

As for the population, it is just over twelve hundred people of mixed origins; the majority being locals but some foreigners also. Their own native language is known by a few handfuls of people. Italian, German and French are the languages spoken by the people of Lavertezzo with Italian being the dominating tongue.

There are tourist attractions in the place. The village of Lavertezzo hosts a church called Madonna Degli Angeli, which dates back to the 1700s. But the most popular tourist destination is the bridge that was built in the 1600s. It is known as the Lavertezzo Bridge and is still used by the locals.

The bridge is also called the Roman bridge and was widely used by the population as it helped them getting across to the other side of the river Verzasca. Standing on this bridge, you have a good opportunity to take a photograph and save it as a memoir of this enchanting bridge and village.
